Rookie Card Identifier
Pick the player. Each page names the recognized rookie card (some players have more than one), lists the checks that confirm it, and tells you what to photograph. No prices here; the point is to know exactly which card you are holding before you do anything else with it.
How to use these pages
- A rookie card is a specific card, usually the player's first appearance in a major licensed set; it is not any card from the rookie season.
- Modern players have several: base Topps or Panini, Chrome or Prizm versions, and premium sets; the page lists which ones sources recognize.
- Parallels are not the rookie card; they are numbered or foiled variants of it and are identified separately.
- Match set, number and manufacturer from the back of the card before anything else.

What makes a card a rookie card?
Collectors and grading companies recognize the player's first card in a major licensed set as the rookie card; modern cards often carry an RC logo. Earlier minor-league or promotional cards are usually called pre-rookie cards instead.
Is a Prizm Silver the rookie card?
It is a parallel of the base Prizm rookie card: same photo and number, foil finish. Sources list the base card as the rookie; parallels are identified by their finish, color or serial number.
Can the app identify a rookie card from a photo?
It reads the player, set and number from a flat, well-lit front and back photo. Parallels and counterfeits need the close-up checks on each page.
