PSA grading prices by service level
PSA charges per card, and the price depends on how fast you want the card back and how much it is worth. Prices below are as reported on Sept. 9, 2026 by Heavy (via Yahoo Sports), Sports Illustrated and Baseball America; Super Express is from All Vintage Cards' table updated Sept. 6, 2026.
- Standard: $59.99, 90–100 business days, cards worth up to $1,000. New tier, open from Sept. 14, 2026.
- Priority: $79.99, 70–80 business days, up to $1,500. This is the old Regular tier under a new name.
- Express: $199, 20–30 business days, up to $2,500. The price rose from $149 on Sept. 9, 2026.
- Super Express: $349, 10–15 business days, up to $5,000.
- Premier: $599, 7–10 business days, up to $10,000. Formerly Walk-Through.
- Premium: from $999, 5–7 business days, for cards worth more than $10,000.
SI printed the Priority price as $79.00; the other two reports and PSA's older Regular price say $79.99.
Why the cheap Value tiers are closed
On May 28, 2026 PSA announced it would stop taking Value Bulk, Value, Value Plus and Value Max orders from June 2 because its backlog had reached about 10 million cards; the backlog later rose to about 14 million (Baseball America). Those tiers had cost between $24.99 and $64.99 (Heavy). PSA says they will stay paused until the backlog is under 5 million cards. On Sept. 9, 2026 the backlog was 9.9 million, down from 10.9 million on Aug. 25, and PSA added the $59.99 Standard tier as what it called a first step.
For anyone pricing a bulk submission this matters most: the cheapest option went from $24.99 to $59.99 per card, which changes which cards are worth sending.
Declared value and upcharges
Every tier has a value cap, and the value that counts is what the card will be worth after grading, not what it is worth raw. PSA defined declared value as the amount you estimate an item will be worth after authentication and grading (quoted by Cardlines, Nov. 16, 2024). Cardlines reported that PSA stopped requiring you to type in a declared value in November 2024 and instead insures each card up to its tier's maximum, but PSA still moves a card to a higher tier if it decides the card is worth more than the tier allows.
That move happens after grading and is billed as an upcharge (All Vintage Cards). The practical rule: choose the tier by the value the card would have if it gets the grade you hope for. A card worth $300 raw that could be worth $3,000 in PSA 10 belongs in a tier that covers $3,000.
What it costs to grade a $1,000 card and a $10,000 card
- A card worth about $1,000 after grading: Standard ($59.99) covers cards up to $1,000, so it fits if you are sure of the value; Priority ($79.99, up to $1,500) leaves room if the grade comes back higher than expected.
- A card worth about $10,000 after grading: Premier, $599, covers up to $10,000.
- Above $10,000: the Premium tiers start at $999 (SI, Sept. 2026). The latest breakdown we found is Cardlines' November 2024 report: $1,000 per card for values up to $24,999, $5,000 per card up to $249,999, and $10,000 per card for $250,000 or more. Check PSA's current menu before relying on these upper tiers.
Costs on top of the grading fee
- Shipping to PSA and back, with insurance. All Vintage Cards quotes one collector's bill that listed $25, $19.50 in shipping, a $60 fee, return shipping and $34 of insurance; there is no fixed figure because it depends on the order's size and value.
- Upcharges when a card grades higher than its tier allows (see above).
- Collectors Club membership is optional: $149 a year for Standard and $199 for Premium since April 20, 2024, and it gives access to member pricing and grading specials (Cardlines). With the Value tiers paused, the member-only bulk tier is not available either.
- Selling costs if you plan to sell the graded card; marketplace fees come out of the graded price, so include them in the break-even check below.
Break-even examples with September 2026 prices
Prices are SportsCardsPro market values from Sept. 25, 2026; fees are PSA's September 2026 menu.
- 1996 Topps Kobe Bryant #138: raw $109, grade 9 $416, PSA 10 $3,050. A 9 covers a $59.99 Standard fee easily, but a 10 would exceed Standard's $1,000 and Priority's $1,500 caps, and even Express stops at $2,500, so Super Express ($349, up to $5,000) is the tier that covers a 10.
- 2011 Topps Update Mike Trout #US175: raw $271, grade 9 $405, PSA 10 $961. A 9 adds $134, just enough for Priority; a PSA 10 fits under Standard's $1,000 cap.
- 2018 Panini Prizm Josh Allen #205: raw $96, grade 9 $155, PSA 10 $544. Only a 10 clearly pays for Standard.
- 2015 Topps Jameis Winston #500: raw $1, PSA 10 $30. Grading costs more than the card can ever be worth.

FAQ
How much does it cost to grade a $1,000 card at PSA?
$59.99 in the Standard tier, which covers cards worth up to $1,000, or $79.99 in Priority, which covers up to $1,500 and is safer if the grade could push the value higher (September 2026 prices).
How much does PSA charge for a $10,000 card?
$599 in the Premier tier, which covers cards worth up to $10,000 with a 7–10 business-day turnaround. Above $10,000 the Premium tiers start at $999.
Why did PSA grading get more expensive in 2026?
PSA paused its Value tiers ($24.99 to $64.99) on June 2, 2026 to work through a backlog of about 10 million cards, so the cheapest option became Priority at $79.99 until the $59.99 Standard tier opened on Sept. 14, 2026. Express also rose from $149 to $199.
Is it worth getting a card PSA graded?
It is worth it when the expected graded price minus the raw price is larger than the fee, shipping and selling costs. Most cheap modern base cards fail that test; key rookies and vintage stars usually pass it.
How hard is it to get a PSA 10?
For sports cards, 34% of cards submitted in the first half of 2025 received a 10, according to GemRate data; the share among all cards in existence is lower because people send their best copies.
Can I get cards graded for free?
Not at PSA. The cheapest open tier in September 2026 is $59.99 per card. Collectors Club members get access to periodic grading specials, but membership itself costs $149 or $199 a year.
